CANVAS/FIRE/WATER DISCHARGE HOSE

A fire hose is a high-pressure hose that is used to extinguish a fire by delivering water or another fire retardant (such as foam). It connects to a fire engine or a fire hydrant when used outside. A firehose’s normal working pressure ranges from 8 to 20 bar, with a bursting pressure of up to 50 bar. A fire hose is typically hung to dry after use since standing water in a hose for an extended period of time can degrade the material and making it unreliable or worthless.

Fire hose is a vital and important tool for firefighting. It is commonly used in urban firefighting, forest firefighting, maritime firefighting, and industrial firefighting.

The fire hose reel, which is widely used in urban firefighting, forest firefighting, maritime firefighting, and industrial firefighting, is an essential and significant firefighting tool.

Agricultural hose is light and sturdy, and it’s easy to store. It’s commonly used in irrigation and drainage systems in agriculture.

Fire hose should be kept cold, dry, and aired while not in use. When put onto a fire truck or vehicle, it should be stowed in a fashion that allows for air circulation and reduces chaffing against the sides of vehicle lockers due to vibration.

After performing a pressure test, inspect the hose’s external surface for cuts, gouges, burn marks, and abraded regions.

After coming into touch with oil or chemicals, use a stiff brush to apply a light detergent to the afflicted region. The area should then be thoroughly cleaned with plenty of clean water.

Care in Use

  • Pressure testing should be done at least once every twelve months and after each time the system is used. Each hose should be visually inspected before being hydrostatically tested at a pressure that is 50 percent greater than the intended working pressure or 10 bar, whichever is higher. Wherever possible, leaky areas should be fixed and retested.

  • When the hose is kinked, avoid dragging it over sharp objects or rough surfaces.
  • Make sure the hose doesn’t spend too much time in touch with hot, blazing debris.
  • To reduce abrasion damage from vibration, cover the hose with a suitable bandage where it reaches the ground after leaving a pump delivery outlet.
  • Rather than flaking, coil the hose.

  • Always avoid bending hose at an acute angle, especially while it is under pressure.

  • Hose ramps should be utilised when vehicular access is required to avoid cars running over the hose.

  • Couplings or branchpipes should never be dropped onto a hose since the impact could damage the lining.

Maintenance after Use

Type 3 covered hoses should be wiped off with a moist cloth after routine usage and stored in a cool, dry, well ventilated location. To maintain coupling retention and avoid detachment during usage, recoupled hose should constantly be examined and proof pressure tested.
